The Bainbridge Island Special Needs Foundation exists to offer young adults with developmental disabilities a supportive environment and meaningful employment while integrating with their local community.
This mission is carried out at the
Stephens House, located across from Winslow Green at 191 Winslow Way West. At this location, new programs are being
developed in order to provide educational, vocational, community
access and eventually housing opportunities for young adults as
they make their transition from public school to community life.
Young adults with developmental disability are mentored so that they may receive help in
preparing for the job market here in our community. Vocational skills
are stressed so that that they will feel comfortable looking for
jobs, and support is given as long as it is needed after a position
is obtained.
We provide space and mentor young adults who wish to start their
own small business. Many of you have enjoyed Trepp's Mini Donuts
and have seen and purchased the lovely work from The Art Project
and our specialty personal care products.
