Testimonials
“My name is Evan and I am a client at Stephen’s House. I have been attending my program there 2-3 days a week ever since June 2022. The staff are always very nice to me and everybody else. At Stephen’s House, we are all important and we get to participate in the planning of our schedules and activities. The things I love to do with Stephen’s House is to go bowling, CrossFit, swimming, yoga, cooking, hiking, exploring, watch movies/play games, do sports, sing karaoke, and go to restaurants sometimes. We also go to Erin’s Farm once a week! We also go on field trips to some places in Seattle including the Argosy Cruise, Seattle Art Museum, and the Seattle Aquarium. We also have gone to the Kitsap County Fair every year! We also have gone to Port Townsend and Fort Worden! The Staff and Director at Stephen’s House care about us and they always make us feel great. I made so many friends at Stephen’s House! I really enjoy Stephen’s House and it is always very important to me!"

"I am writing to share our heartfelt gratitude and support for the opportunities provided by Stephens House for our son, Eric. Attending this special needs foundation twice a week has truly transformed his life in ways we never imagined possible.
As a respite provider, Stephens House has opened up a world of new experiences for Eric. The outings to museums, parks, aquariums, theater, etc., have not only broadened his horizons but also ignited a newfound enthusiasm for exploration. Each visit is not just an outing: it is a chance for Eric to engage with the world around him, fostering his curiosity and creativity.
ā
Moreover, the focus on physical fitness through activities like walking, swimming, and hiking has made a remarkable difference in Eric's health and well-being. We've seen him grow stronger and more confident, both physically and socially. The supportive environment at Stephens House encourages him to step out of his comfort zone, and it's heartwarming to witness his progress.
Another important benefit has been the relationships he has with the others that attend. He has made several friends that he interacts with outside Stephens House. They go to movies, participate in Special Olympics together, birthday parties, etc. These friendships have made a huge impact in Eric's life.
ā
The staff's dedication and compassion shine through in every interaction. They have created a nurturing space where Eric feels safe and valued, allowing him to thrive. We are so thankful for all that Stephens House has done for our familiy.

Please consider supporting them for the valuable resources they are providing their clients and the community"

“My son Johann, 36, has been attending Stephen’s House since October 2023. He started with one day/week, then two and eventually four because there were openings and he just loves the place, the staff and the other members. The activities are numerous and varied. Sporting activities are both adapted and stimulating. I am so glad he is happy to participate because in ordinary circumstances they don’t appeal to him. At Stephen’s House he feels supported by the staff to the point that he doesn’t have to make the exhausting efforts he would have to make in another environment in order to adjust. . It is the same with the artistic workshops. He usually doesn’t feel up to them. But at Stephen’s House he knows he can express himself whatever his skills are and then, with the professional guidance of the staff, he can improve. Finally he loves social encounters : he and the other members are given many opportunities to meet people of the island who come from plenty of different backgrounds and occupations. He often comes back home with numerous details concerning all the openings he has been given.
ā
Personally I am delighted. I have not seen Johann so ready and happy to invest himself in years. Stephen’s House brings him stability and encourages him to develop his skills. He is definitely making progress thanks to the stable framework and numerous incentives provided there. There reigns a general atmosphere of respect, tolerance and potential growth. I am very thankful to the staff for creating these conditions : Matilda who runs the place with such efficient and innovative abilities as well as a profound understanding of people with special needs ;Kianna whose great sense of humor and playful touch enable him to overcome his fears and reluctance and Matthew with whom he feels safe at the swimming pool and in other activities. Finally I am impressed by the commitment of the board members who regularly dedicate their time and talents to make it even more special.

Stephen’s House is definitely unique.
